H.M.S. Maeander 44 Guns

Signed by artist in plate. The HMS 'Meander' is shown prominently in the centre-right of the image. A small two-masted is shown in the background to the right of the subject vessel. To the left of the 'Meander' a buoy is shown in the foreground, along with six other smaller vessels in varying degrees of detail. The sky is mostly clear, with only patchy cloud. The 'Meander' has her main and topsails unfurled, and flies the Red Ensign. This print was produced in 1853, two years before the ship was sent to the White Sea during the Crimean War in 1855.
