This Portrait of His Majesty's Ship Glatton..... shewing her situation after Defeating the French Squadron, on the Night of the 15th July 1796

This is a port side view of HMS Glatton after a naval battle. Her sails are hanging, holed and in tatters. Her jib and part of the mainsail trail in the water. Although a British naval ensign flies from the stern it is pierced by many holes. There are several other ships in the distance, at least one flying a French flag. Although the sky is threatening, rays of sunlight bath the Glatton.
