Folder containing various letters and documents covering Captain Gordon Reinhold Bald's life and naval career including letters to his parents and siblings mainly sent from Canada and Japan while serving in HMS ALGERINE. There are also accounts and examination results from his time at Eastman's Academy, letters from friends and relatives during the First World War, Bald's passport issued in 1918, and newspaper clippings reporting on his divorce from his first wife in 1923. The folder includes various letters and papers from the Second World War period including a September 1939 telegram ordering Bald to report to Admiralty, a letter from Admiral Bruce Austin Fraser responding to Bald's congratulations on the Scharnhorst action and a letter to Bald from Sir John Salmond, thanking him for his work 'producing' officers for the RAF.
