The British Queen Steam Ship On her passage from New York to London, lying to in a heavy Gale, Decr 3rd 1839

Hand-coloured lithograph depicting the 'British Queen' (1838), a pioneering steam powered vessel in a storm. The rigging of another ship can be seen on the left behind a huge wave. At the time of the passage depicted, this ship was the largest passenger liner in the world.
