Nine sailors in fancy dress, some as ballerinas
A black and white landscape photograph of a group of nine sailors in fancy dress, seven as ballerinas. Five are standing and four are seated in front of. Seven of them are wearing dresses and two are wearing cropped shirts and shorts. The man standing in the middle of the upper row has a mortarboard on his head. The two on the end of either side on the bottom row are squatting, each with one leg outstretched toward the middle, wearing boots; these men are also wearing small hats. The sailors are probably in the compartment of a ship, as a companion ladder, bulkheads with rivets and pipework can be seen behind or around them. Original caption (handwritten in white above): 'The ''Ballet'' / Sept '27' and (handwritten in white below ): 'Waters. Jackson. Kemp. Walker. Leggatt / Johnson. Barcroft. Reynolds. Phillimore.'
