Robert Stephenson (with Menai Bridge, opened 1850, in background)
With facsimile autograph. Robert Stephenson and Sir Joseph Fairbairn’s Britannia railway bridge over the Menai Strait to Angelsey was opened in 1850. The tubular sections of the bridge were constructed at C. J. Mare and Co's ironworks at Blackwall (forerunner of the Thames Ironworks).
