Official ship's badge of HMS Moorhen
Ship's badge of HMS 'Moorhen' 1901. It is an official design, a diamond shape with a gold rope twist border, a naval crown above. 'MOORHEN' is inscribed on the name tablet. It depicts on a field white, a moorhen proper (in realistic colours). The pattern was approved in January 1930. The badge is made of brass, painted and drilled at the corners. HMS 'Moorhen' was a river gunboat, built by Yarrow in 1901. She was sold in 1933 for breaking up.
