Official boat badge of HMS Tarpon
        
        The boat badge of HMS 'Tarpon' 1917. The official pattern approved in about 1919. On a black field a silver fish (tarpon). On a red field, a castle silver surmounted by a Royal Crown, gold. The badge is shield-shaped with a gold rope twist border representing an destroyer. It is made of cast brass, painted and drilled at the corners. 'TARPON' is inscribed on the reverse. HMS 'Tarpon' was an R-class destroyer, built by John Brown, Clydebank. She was launched in March 1917 and used as a minelayer until 1918. She was sold in 1927 for scrapping.
