Terrestrial facsimile globe

Terrestrial facsimile globe. It forms a pair with the celestial globe, Coronelli GLB0109. Geographical details on the sphere include loxodromes for 32 compass points. There is a list of cities in England, and California is a peninsula. The Strait of le Maire is absent and the south polar calotte is empty. There are many decorative ships and monsters in the oceans. A total of nine oceans are named.

The present enlarged facsimile derives from the Bibliotheque Nationale's set of unmounted gores for the globe of 265 mm. The cartouches around the South Pole with information on the climates are missing. For full details about the cartography and construction of this globe please refer to the related publication.
