Silk picture

An embroidered silk picture with a photograph of the maker's daughter in the centre. The embroidery is framed and glazed. It is a sailor-made version of the type of silk picture produced commercially in the Far East. The photograph is surrounded by, top left to right, the ensigns of Belgium, the Italian Navy, the Russian Imperial Navy and France. Below, left to right, are the Japanese naval ensign and the ensign of Romania. The photograph is flanked by Red and White British ensigns on a blue background. A leaf shape is embroidered in each lower corner.
