Celestial navigational globe
Celestial navigational globe. Astronomical details on the sphere show only stars; neither constellation figures nor contours are drawn. Above the title cartouche there is a magnitude table in a rectangular cartouche. The stars are marked by their Bayer notation. Star names are printed in capital letters and provided with a number, sometimes between brackets, which apparently refers to a list of stars; a total of 83 are named. For an earlier example of this globe, see Henry Hughes & Son GLB0065. For full details about the cartography and construction of this globe please refer to the related publication.
