Bowl
Elsinore bowl. It is painted in colour with a British brigantine under sail, a rowing boat in the foreground and Kronborg Castle, Denmark, with another sailing vessel in the background all within a gilded cartouche. There is scattered gilded decoration inside the bowl and it has a gilt rim. It was made for the ship clearance firm Major Wright and Co of Elsinore for presentation to sea captains passing through the Sound who were customers of the company. There is an illegible overglaze inscription on the base.
