Bronze Star Medal
Bronze Star Medal awarded to Commander Warren Fred Postel, USN.
The medal is in the form of a five-pointed star with a smaller star in the centre. Inscribed on the reverse is ‘HEROIC OR MERITORIOUS ACHIEVEMENT’. The ribbon is red, edged with white, with a narrow blue stripe edged with white in the centre. The medal is in the fitted case of issue with one miniature enamelled ribbon bar.
The Museum also holds the following medals awarded to Commander Postel: Legion of Merit USA (MED2058), Joint Services Commendation Medal (MED2060), Long Service Award USA, bars ‘1931’, ‘1934’, ‘1938’ (MED2061), Second Nicaraguan Campaign Medal (MED2062), Yangtze Service Medal (MED2063), Navy Expeditions Medal (MED2064), Marine Corps Expeditions Medal (MED2065), China Service Medal (MED2066), American Defense Medal with Base clasp (MED2067), American Campaign Medal (MED2068), Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Battle Star (MED2069), World War II Service Medal (Victory) (MED2070), National Defense Medal (MED2071), Korea Medal (MED2072), Distinguished Service Medal First Class with Rosette, Navy, Vietnam (MED2073), United Nations Service Medal, Korean Clasp (MED2074), Navy Expert Pistol Shot Award (MED2075), Military Order of World Wars (MED2078), Order of Military Surgeons (MED2079) and Military Order of Sojourners, Masonic (MED2080).
