Line-throwing pistol
Line Throwing gun. This large bore long barrelled pistol fires a short blank cartridge. The cartridge is loaded into the breech of the pistol and the rocket and line are inserted into the muzzle. The following is stamped on the gun: (serial number) '1008'. 'USCG APPROV No 160 040/4/1 PT'.
