Button
A relic of Sir John Franklin's last expedition 1845-48. A button (linen-covered iron ring) found at Crozier's camp near Ross Cairn, Point Victory, King William Island on 11 July 1879 by the Schwatka Search Expedition 1878-79. It was the point where the crews of 'Erebus' and 'Terror' landed after abandoning their ships. Schwatka made a more thorough search of the site on his return journey when the snow had melted.
