Glass bottle with leather cap containing dried meat. Bottle is labelled: 'SPECIMEN OF PRESERVED MEAT.' Possibly associated with Charles Francis Hall (1821-71). A similar object is shown in plate entitled: ' Relics found by Captain Hall in his recent Arctic exploring expedition' published in 'Harper's weekly' in 1869.
