Terrestrial table globe

Terrestrial table globe. Geographical details on the sphere include a graph within a cartouche giving a colour key for above and below sea level. The cartouche also contains keys for principal shipping routes, railways, air routes and gives the scale 1:37,500,000.

This globe has obviously been dampened at one time and has faded. Some of the lines that were washed off have been filled in with red biro. The USSR is shown on the map. The globe also shows ocean currents and drifts. For full details about the cartography and construction of this globe please contact the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
