Flat, gilt button. Smooth edge. On a smooth background is a pre-1901 crown above a foul anchor with the rope attached to the ring at the top and then from the top of the left-hand side of the stock it goes diagonally under the stock and shank to appear under the right-hand side of the stock and then it goes under the shank to the left and then under the shank to the right and then under the right arm. Underneath the anchor on a scroll is ROYAL NAVY.
