Negroes at School

This engraving shows European children instructing Africans (who are dressed as Europeans), with what appears to be a European schoolmaster and woman looking on. It was probably published in a missionary text, where the power of European and Christian values and education were seen as important benefits to be brought to former slaves in the Americas.
