'Scene on the Coast of Africa' (The Slave Trade)
Published by Leggatt. The original painting, first shown at Berlin in 1835, was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1840 as 'The Slave Trade' and given to Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton, whose widow presented it to Wilberforce House, Hull. See ZBA2729 for another copy and ZBA2761 for another version. See also PAI2626 for an amateur hand-coloured copy. Part of the Michael Graham-Stewart slavery collection.
