Slitless spectrograph from Yapp 36-inch reflector telescope. A part of this object is numbered XXX0992.
In 1931, cigarette manufacturer William Johnston Yapp donated £15,000 to the Royal Observatory in honour of its retiring Astronomer Royal, Sir Frank Dyson. The funds were used to commission a brand-new 36-inch reflector telescope, complete with dome and two spectrographs, of which this one still survives today.
