Notebook used by James Furnell while at sea, circa 1843-1854, containing handwritten copies of hymns, prayers, meditations and verse. There are lists of articles purchased and sold in foreign ports including Pointe de Galle, Bombay and Canton. The notes also reflect his interests in ancient history, geology and exploration.
