Bedford Lemere Collection
Collection of five hundred and fifteen 10 x 12 inch glass plate negatives by the architectural photographers Bedford Lemere & Co in the period circa 1891-1919. Numbered G10505-G11019. The collection mainly comprises interiors and deck views on newly completed passenger liners in this period. The 'Aquitania' (1914) is particularly well represented, with a total of 175 photographs relating to her construction, launch and completion at the John Brown & Co Ltd yard at Clydebank. There is also a series of 43 photographs showing activity around the workshops of the same shipbuilding yard in 1901. See Trim folder GEN/23820 for research notes, bibliography, etc.
