Punch and Judy puppet: the clergyman
A clergyman glove puppet, part of a Punch and Judy set belonging to puppeteer Peter Butchard (1909-2009). The wooden head is carved in a more angular and sophisticated style than the the other puppets. The figure has a hooked nose and square black hat. It has felt hands, neck bands made of cotton tape and a body made in black cotton fabric with a brown synthetic fabric border. The puppet is machine sewn.
