Axe head
A stone axe head from Papua New Guinea. On a metal label 'PART OF A STONE AXE FROM NEW GUINEA'. Collected by Captain H.J.O. Millar when in command of HMS 'Torch' 1903-4 on the Australian Station. In 1903 HMS 'Torch' took Major General Edward Hutton (1848-1923) to British New Guinea via Thursday Island to carry out an inspection of imperial defences.
