Sea chest
Sea chest which belonged to Lieutenant George Platt (circa 1780-1840). It has straight sides and is butt nailed. The surface is unpainted. The handles are in the form of cleats with simple rope grommets. 'Royal Sovereign' is painted on the front.
Lt Platt is not listed in 'Commissioned Sea Officers, 1660-1815', however, two officers of the right date are listed as George Pratt.
