A distant port quarter view, taken from the quayside very fine off the stern, of the passenger/cargo liner Saxonia (1954) manoeuvring astern away from Berth 47 in the Ocean Dock at Southampton. The tug/tender Gatcombe (1960), seen from just ahead of her starboard beam, is connected to the liner's stern. the passenger liner Queen Mary (1936) is on the right. The Saxonia is bound out on her final voyage to Canada before conversion to a dual purpose North Atlantic service and cruise liner and renaming to Carmania.
