The tug Challenge (1931) and the cargo liner City of Carlisle (1946) in Tilbury Docks, Essex
A port side view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the tug Challenge (1931) connected to the bow of the cargo liner City of Carlisle (1946) in Tilbury Docks. She has her port anchor down. Only the bow, as far aft as number 3 hatch, of the City of Carlisle (1946) is in the picture and she is seen from off her starboard beam. She is alongside 25 Shed in the East Branch Dock and has mooring lines ashore at the bow. The motor barges Kethole (1932) and Arctic (1897), seen from fine off the port bow, are berthed alongside the quay on the right.
