The cargo liner City of Carlisle (1946) and tugs Beam (1910) and Challenge (1931) in Tilbury Docks, Essex.
A starboard side view, taken from abaft the beam, of the cargo liner City of Carlisle (1946) bound in, manoeuvring with tug assistance in Tilbury Main Dock. The tug Beam (1910), seen from the port side, is pushing against the liner amidships. The afterpart of the tug Challenge (1931) can be seen on the right, from off her starboard beam. Her bow is out of the picture. The City of Carlisle (1946) has just hit a dockside crane at 25 Shed, East Branch Dock, the mangled remains of which can be seen near her bow.
