A port bow view, taken from the lock side, of the cargo liner City of Exeter (1953) entering the South Dock Lock from Blackwall Reach, bound in for the West India Docks, London. She is passing between the two arms of the bascule bridge which takes Preston's Road over the lock. A shore gang are putting her bow line over a bollard on the lock side overseen by the lock master.
