The spritsail barges Gipping (1889), Edith May (1906) and Maid of Connaught (1899) at Maldon, Essex
Looking north-by-west along The Hythe at Maldon, showing a variety of vessels moored to the quay. The nearest craft is the spritsail barge Gipping (1899), seen from fine off her starboard bow. Her mast has been lowered but she has the bob of her owner at the masthead. Outboard of the Gipping is the auxiliary spritsail barge Edith May (1906), seen from wide off her starboard bow and also with her mast lowered. Astern of the Edith May is the auxiliary spritsail barge Maid of Connaught (1899) and outboard is another spritsail barge. Both of these vessels have their masts in position. Two stumpie barges and other craft are in the background. A motor car FTW67 is parked on The Hythe.
