Shell damage suffered by HMS Warspite at Jutland
A view of the Captain's accommodation looking from port to starboard, showing damage suffered by HMS Warspite (1913) on 31 May 1916 during the Battle of Jutland. The damage was caused by the passage and bursting of a 12 inch shell. This photograph was taken in No.1 Dry Dock at Rosyth. N16495 shows the entry point of this shell and N16494 the exterior damage caused by blast and splinters when it burst.
