Shell damage suffered by HMS Warspite at Jutland

A close view of the starboard side of the hull at main deck level roughly abreast 'A' turret, showing damage suffered by HMS Warspite (1913) on 31 May 1916 during the Battle of Jutland. The hole marks the exit point of an unexploded 12 inch shell which passed through the Petty Officers' Mess. This photograph was taken in No.1 Dry Dock at Rosyth.
