Honour's Board
Carved and gilded wooden honour's board from HMS 'Ajax' 1934. It is surrounded by a carved wreath with gilt shells in the corners. The ship's badge is at the top, surmounted by a naval crown and flanked by dolphins. Motto: 'NEC QUISQUAM NISI AJAX'. Battle honours carved in relief: 'ST VINCENT . 1780 THE SAINTES . 1782 ALEXANDRIA . 1801 TRAFALGAR . 1805 SAN SEBASTIAN . 1813 BALTIC . 1854 JUTLAND . 1916.' A published photograph shows the officers who took part in the Battle of the River Plate in 1939, standing behind this honours board.
