Cameo

White vitreous paste cameo executed on a light blue background. The cameo is decorated with a portrait depicting Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), facing to the left. The cameo is contained within a large oval gilt metal mount, complete with a suspension ring. The mount is decorated in relief, with a depiction of Diogenes holding a lantern in his left hand, while he indicates with his right hand the portrait of Nelson. In the background there is a depiction of a landscape and a tub with a book protruding from it. Naval trophies are shown below.
