Sketchbook (landscape subjects, Britain)

Green leatherette with pencil holder, green leather binding with gold bands and tooling, button closure (missing) and label of Winsor and Newton, 38 Rathbone Place (7 3/8 x 10 1/4 ins). 13 ff. (7 x 9 7/8 ins), white, buff and blue paper. 11 ff. of slight landscape sketches including one of an unnamed ruined castle. Three on buff paper of old trees are either early CS or, as seems more likely from the apparent date of the book, by George Stanfield. From the studio collection of Clarkson Stanfield RA, acquired 9.04 (Bagshawe Collection). [PvdM 5.06]
