Medal commemorating the creation of the Baltic fleet, 1703. Obverse: Bust of Czar Peter I, laureate, in armour and cloak (right). Legend: 'PETRVS . ALEXII . FIL . D . G . RVSS . IMP . M . DVX . MOSCOVIAE.' (Peter, the son of Alexis, by the grace of God, Emperor of the Russians, Grand Duke of Moscow.) Reverse: Neptune crowned standing on a shell, a trident in his right hand, driving three sea horses. Legend: 'FINNIA ECCE TRIDENTEM.' (Finland behold the trident.) Exergue: 'NAVIGATIONE IN MARI BALTNICO (sic) STABILITA.' (Navigation established in the Baltic.) A copy after P. H. Müller.
