Snow goggles

Used on Nares' Arctic expedition 1875. Green glass lenses with wire gauge surrounds, formerly tied on with string. The two eye-pieces are joined by a piece of wire. In oval box with coppered outside surface and hinged lid. Label inside lid "A pair of goggles worn by Thomas Jolliffe, one of the sledge party led by commanders-A G Markham RN. Belonging to the expedition commanded by Captain G Nares RN 1875-76."
