Medal commemorating Brest being made a naval base. Obverse: Head of King Louis XIV in a long wig with curls on the neck (right). Similar to preceding but without a curl in front. Legend: 'LUDOVICUS MAGNUS REX CHRISTIANISSIMUS'. Reverse: Plan of the fortified town and harbour, Neptune reclining below (right) a key in his right, his left hand resting on a dolphin. Legend: 'TUTELA CLASSIUM OCEANI'. Exergue: 'BRESTI PORTUS AT NAVALI. M. DC. LXXXI'.
