Reverse: Plan of the port of Marseilles, a port broadside view of a two-masted oared galley superimposed upon it. Legend: 'ASSERTUM MARIS MEDITERRANEI IMPERIUM.' (The command of the Mediterranean sea claimed.) Exergue: 'QUADRAGINTA TRIREMES . M . DC . LXXXVIII.' (Forty galleys, 1688.)
