Buff-coloured jug with moulded decoration on the body depicting standing figures of a sailor in a sennit hat waving, a Highland soldier and two other armed soldiers, with a profile of Queen Victoria under the lip, within a laurel wreath and surmounted by a royal crown.
Below the lip is moulded the date 1860, and below Victoria is inscribed ‘The Defenders of our Queen and Country’. Around the lower part of the body is moulded ‘Our Army & Navy & Brave Volunteers’ and on each side the 'VR' monogram. A Registration diamond can be seen on the base.
