Benzie's chart-compass
A yachting chart-compass, comprising an oblong glass plate with a rotating metal disc attached. The glass plate has a straight line engraved along its centre, passing through the centre of the metal disc, which is marked in compass points. The compass could therefore be used for marking off courses or bearings on a chart. It is contained in a lined, leather-covered rectangular case. Benzie's was founded in Cowes in 1862.
