One of A pair of moose hide moccasins sewn with sinew, with red bird quill stitching round the vamps. They have double tongues and large flaps which wrap round the ankle. They are secured by strips of skin. There is an seam down the back and a welt across the heel. They are made in a ladies size so may have been bought as presents. Collected by Sir John Franklin (1786-1847) on one of his two overland journeys (1819-21 and 1825-27) and passed down through the family of his daughter Isabella
