Medal commemorating the defence of Acre, 1799 and Sir William Sidney Smith (1764-1840). Obverse: Sir Sidney Smith's bust (left), pigtail, full uniform. Star of Swedish Order of St. Seraphin. Legend: 'SIR WILLIAM SYDNEY SMITH K . S . OF SWEDEN.' Reverse: On the seashore an unclothed boy stands on a French flag, laurel branch in left hand, supporting with the other a shield upon which are depicted a naval crown over a mural crown intertwined with laurel branches. A palm-tree behind. Distant view of Acre. Exergue: 'BONAPARTE REPULSED AND SIEGE OF ACRE RAISED 20 MAY 1799.'
