Reverse: Columbus (left) armed, a flag in his left and a sword in his right hand, stepping ashore, two local inhabitants (right, one seated, addressing him; three ships in distance, a coconut palm (right). Exergue: 'CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS LANDING AND TAKING POSSESSION OF THE ISLAND WHICH HE NAMED SAN SALVADOR, OCT. 12TH 1492.'
