Snow goggles
Used on the Australasian Antarctic Expedition 1911-14. The base is constructed from an outer layer of beige, twill woven, cotton lined with a beige, thick, raised wool fabric which is hand-stitched to the outer layer. The eye-pieces appear to be formed from a synthetic substance, possibly bakelite, with orange glass lenses, the eye-pieces are hand-stitched to the base. The goggles fasten to the head by means of straps with a buckle and eyelets.
