Reverse: A female figure leaning on a pillar and holding in her left hand a staff surmounted by a cap of Liberty and in her right a rudder. In the backround a ship, sword, chart, dividers, scales, wheat-sheaves and men with a cart. Legend: 'ÉTABLISSEMENT DE LA MAIRIE DE PARIS.' Exergue: 'J . SILVAIN BAILLY PREMIER MAIRE ÉLU LE 15 JUILLET 1789.'
