Obverse: Bust of King Edward VII in naval uniform with order and medals. Legend: 'EDWARDVS VII REX IMPERATOR'. Reverse: Starboard broadside view of a barque-rigged steamer (Discovery) fast in the ice; a volcano in the distance; a group of six men in polar dress on skis in the foreground; a sledge with sail (left). Inscription on edge: 'J D WALKER DISCOVERY 1902.3'. Fitted with ornamental bar for suspension by a white ribbon.
