Reverse: Starboard broadside view of a barque-rigged steamer (Discovery) fast in the ice, a volcano in the distance, a group of six men in polar dress on skis in the foreground, a sledge with sail (left). Bar: 'ANTARCTIC 1912-14'. Inscription on edge: 'SPECIMEN'. Awarded to members of Sir Douglas Mawson's Australasian Antarctic Expedition.
