Azimuth compass

Brass compass with sighting vanes. Azimuth. Green card, paper covered mica, graduated in points (16 lettered). Metal rim engraved to 1/3 with reversed figures at evry ten. Jewelled cap. Steel pivot surrounded by cylindrical card lifter. Card brake operated by plunger through gimbal pivot. Azimuth attachment consisting of Schmalcalder prism, fore sight and narrow black reflector attached to verge ring. When the fore sight is hinged down onto the glass it operates the card lifter. Graduated quadrantally and alternate points.
